THE SWIM ENGLAND LEARN TO SWIM PATHWAY

Using the Swim England learn to swim pathway we keep our swimmers motivated by delivering fun and inspirational lessons, using a variety of different awards. We aim to help your child achieve 1 ASA certificate per term (included in your fees. Any additional certificates can be bought from us), depending on their attendance.

Stage 1

Your swimmer will develop basic movement skills, water confidence and safety awareness. They can use aids e.g. arm bands and floats to complete this stage.

Stage 2

Your swimmer will develop safe entries to the water and will continue to practice floating, travel and rotation in the water. To complete this stage they must be able to swim 5m without aids or equipment

Stage 3

Your swimmer will now work towards being able to swim 10m on their front and back. They will also learn to swim underwater to collect objects from the bottom of the pool. Rotation skills and water safety knowledge will also be developed.

Stage 4

Swimmers will focus on refining kicking techniques for all four strokes and develop a better understanding of bouyancy. In addition to this, they will begin swimming 10m to a recognised Swim England standard.

Stage 5

Swimmers will focus on achieving 10m in all four strokes, to the Swim England expected standards. Swimmers will also develop 'watermanship' skills including sculling, treading water and complete rotation.

Stage 6

Swimmers will focus on developing effective swimming skills including coordinated breathing, water safety and an understanding of how to prepare for exercise. These classes introduce swimming down the length, or part length.

Stage 7

Swimmers will continue to develop good technique in all strokes up to 100m. They will develop a variety of skills, previously learnt, through sequences and routine. These classes run for 60 minutes.
